Cheryl A. Felice, Democratic Candidate for Brookhaven Town, 4th Council District

A believer that “all politics is local,” Cheryl perfectly combines her education, community service experience and administrative background to work across party lines and represent communities from the head waters of the Carmans River to the shoreline of Bellport Bay as Brookhaven Town Council-District 4.

Cheryl A. Felice, of Bellport, was born and raised in Patchogue. As a member of the South Country Board of Education, where she was twice elected as School Board President, Cheryl has grown dissatisfied with the Town’s stewardship of the Brookhaven Landfill. Their delay in “capping” open landfill cells prior to the 2018-2019 school year opening day resulted in more odor complaints through the end of 2018 and the early part of 2019. The Town of Brookhaven blamed these odor complaints on every other entity within the area except the landfill. The DEC, however, confirmed on March 1, 2019 that the landfill “failed 10 of 11 inspections” over a 13-day period in December 2018. (Newsday 3/13/19)

You can count on Cheryl to obtain the resources necessary to get the job done. She is a Distinguished Alumnus of both Suffolk County Community College and St. Joseph’s College, where she earned an Executive MBA and completed both the Administrators and Trustees Masters Program from the International Foundation of Employees Benefit Plans. As for community service, Cheryl is a member and past director of the Patchogue Lioness Lions Club, co-founder of the Girls Softball league for the Patchogue Youth Athletic Association, and serves on the board of the Bellport Hagerman East Patchogue Alliance. Previously, she was a board of director for the Boys and Girls Club of Bellport where she remains a loyal benefactor.

As a leader in a maximum-security facility, Cheryl commanded the Bureau of Criminal Identification for the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office. Thereafter, she became the longest serving executive board member and president of the Suffolk County Association of Municipal Employees. She served the union’s 21,000-member joint labor/management Benefit Fund as trustee, administrator and fiduciary for an unprecedented 23 years. As AME president, Cheryl served as co-chair of the 48,000-member Suffolk County Employees Medical Health Plan during a time when the joint labor/management committee was credited with saving Suffolk taxpayers over $200 million in health care costs.

Cheryl A. Felice has experience working with elected officials in federal, state and local governments regardless of party affiliation. It’s that kind of dedication and loyalty that we need to get the job done right in the 4th Council District. Let’s put Cheryl to work for us in Brookhaven!
